Travelling During The Pandemic
Plenty of people are now thinking about how much they want a break from the UK. Being confined to your house for months on end is not the perfect summer for anybody. Despite having some great weather across the UK throughout the past few weeks, it just is not the same as jetting off abroad. But what do you know about travelling during the pandemic?
Can I travel where ever I want?
With new, updated restrictions being put in place recently, there are some changes which have allowed us to travel around a little bit more. Especially around England itself. The government announced a couple of weeks ago that people are able to travel to other places, not just the supermarkets. Hence the major crowdings on beaches around the UK.
There are a lot of places around the world which are major tourist destinations to the British public, unfortunately, they have to keep their borders closed due to the risk of spreading the coronavirus even more.
Meaning that travelling to certain destinations during the pandemic is not an option. For example, only US citizens / lawful permanent residents including their spouse, parents, legal guardian, siblings (unmarried and under the age of 21 years), child, foster child or ward can enter the US at this moment in time.
Due to the spread of the disease, there are around 50 countries are allowing the UK citizens to ‘holiday’ there. Although there are constant updates and changes being made by different countries too are open up more and more borders around the world. Therefore meaning that citizens have a better chance of travelling to exactly where they want too.
The government has announced more information recently on travelling outside the UK. A recent update from the government states that there are plenty of places which you are able to travel to but to be safe you must quarantine for 14 days once you arrive back in the UK. Currently, they are trying to create air bridges between the UK and specific European countries. This will allow UK citizens to travel outside of the UK and not have to quarantine on their return.
Different advice depending on the country?
The short answer is yes. There are different sets of advice and different rules which each country will request for you to follow when you are in their Therefore we suggest that you educate yourself with the rules which will be applying to you before you leave the country in the future. But, please be aware that these rules could change, so please keep up-to-date with the recent information which is presented to you from the government.
What are a few of the places in which you can travel?
As mentioned previously more and more countries are opening their borders at different times. But, at the moment, here are a few places that UK citizens are expected to be able to visit:
- Spain
- France
- Italy
- Germany
A list of 60 countries exempt from UK quarantine will be announced today.
